Afternoon at the Park … Bowling Green Family Photographer, Bowling Green Family Photography   Leave a comment

I met Melissa and Andrew when we photographed their beautiful daughter back in July and I’ve been looking forward to this session with Andrew’s family ever since.  It was so much fun it was to work with a family who was so involved in the whole portrait processes.  They were excited about everything we did, laughed and joked with us throughout the session, and even brought a change of clothing, coordinating colors with each other perfectly.  The whole family was so incredibly nice and thoughtful and it was an absolute pleasure to spend time with them.   Here are a couple of my favorites from the session…

In-between shots of the family as a group, we took some pictures of little Emery and all the ladies worked to get a smile out of her:

I don’t think she knew WHAT to think!

Speaking of smiles, this handsome fellow was one of THE BEST 7 (almost 8!) year old’s we’ve ever worked with.  Not only did Christian have a great personality, he smiled beautifully for us in every single picture.  He did so well, I told him I was going to post his picture on the internet as an example to 7 (almost 8!) year old’s everywhere.  Check it out, boys and girls, this is how you smile for the camera!!!

Kinsey   2 comments

I love working with musicians… when else do I get to spend hours dragging someone all over town trying new things?  Today I had a great session with an AMAZING singer, Kinsey Rose.  I tried out a few new places I’d been scouting for a while and while she was here she sang us one of her songs, Streets of Maytown. It’s an incredibly beautiful song and she’s got an amazing voice.  You can hear it here: http://www.myspace.com/music/5209502/songs/34451605  and visit her myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/kinseyrose.  In the meantime, here are a few from our session:

More Beautiful Eyes … Bowling Green Family Photographer, Bowling Green Family Photography   Leave a comment

Check out these baby blues… or are they greens?

And just to brag on this guy a little bit, he’s not only incredibly handsome, he is SO INCREDIBLY SWEET!  I always expect to have a somewhat difficult time with boy’s his age (what boy this age WANTS to have his picture taken?), but he was absolutely wonderful.  He helped me get his brother to smile, was up for anything I asked him to do, and was just incredibly nice and polite.  I sincerely mean it when I say that I hope I have a chance to take this young man’s picture many, many times in the future.

And THIS little guy earned every ounce of the lolipop his Mom promised him at the end of the session!  Check out that smile:

Beautiful Baby …. Bowling Green Baby Photography, Bowling Green Baby Photographer   Leave a comment

Oh how I love working with babies!!!  This little beauty slept for most of her session, timed her lunch perfectly (my baby was getting hungry then, too!) and fell right back to sleep for a few follow up shots.  Here are a few of my favorites…

The sweetest parts….

One of my first photography ventures, besides photographing my own children, was in the area of pet photography.  Having run a rescue out of our home for several years, we soon learned that the better the picture we had of our adoptable pets, the more quickly we could find homes for them.  I loved, and still love, taking pictures of animals and am hoping to expand my work to include pets in the very near future.  While we are no longer involved in rescue, in order to assist in the rescue efforts of other organizations, we will be offering digital paintings of pets, with a percentage of all proceeds from paintings being donated to rescue organizations.  Here are a few samples of some recent paintings we have done…

Behind the scenes… Bowling Green Photographer, Bowling Green Family Photography   Leave a comment

How do you take a portrait under bad lighting conditions?  Make your own!

We did this session in the middle of the afternoon under less-than-perfect lighting conditions.  For most shots, I was able to get the family in the shade, but I really wanted a picture on this bridge.  It was too bright for a good shot, so my husband stood next to them with a reflector to keep off the sun, and I shot on a tripod. I took one shot of all three of them, and another shot of just the bridge and combined them in photoshop (gotta love photoshop!)
